Sexual Misconduct
We have zero-tolerance for any form of sexual misconduct, which is any form of unwelcome behavior of a sexual nature or non-consensual sexual contact. Chipola College is committed to maintaining a safe and secure work and academic environment free of any form of sexual misconduct including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sexual harassment. A violation of the Violence Against Women’s Act shall constitute grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including, dismissal from the College.
Types of Misconduct
These behaviors include:
- Sexual harassment
- Sexual assault
- Domestic violence
- Stalking
- Sexual exploitation
- Sexual violence
While some of these behaviors are obviously wrong, sometimes sexual misconduct can occur when consent is misunderstood or not communicated clearly. It is important to understand consent. Consent is an informed, affirmative, and conscious decision by each participant to engage in a mutually agreed-upon sexual activity. Minors (individuals under the age of 18) cannot lawfully consent.
Reporting
If you are a victim or bystander, report the incident/problem to an advisor, faculty member, or college administrator.
