Scholarship Opportunities

Chipola Foundation

The Chipola Foundation is a non-profit that offers many scholarships to Chipola students. Its flagship program is the McLendon Educational Trust, but there are literally hundreds of scholarships for which students may apply.  While some scholarships provide the student with a specific dollar amount, others cover full tuition and even books.

Whatever your interests, you should take a look at the list of Foundation scholarships available. Scholarships are usually posted to the Chipola website in early March; it is important to apply as quickly as possible, as an early application increases your odds of receiving the scholarship.

Most Foundation scholarships are based strictly on achievement, not on financial need, so many students who would otherwise not be eligible for aid are eligible for them. Even if you already have Bright Futures, you can still apply for Foundation scholarships. Many students receive both! .

At Chipola, we have incredible donors who support our students through the Chipola Foundation. Thanks to them, education is more affordable for hundreds of our students each year. We hope YOU will be one of them! It never hurts to apply!

Bright Futures

The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program rewards Florida high school graduates with scholarships for high academic achievement.  As with most programs, applying on time is vital.

For Bright Futures, students must apply online by August 31st of the year of their high school graduation. There is no consideration of late applications.  Regardless of the level of funding, Bright Futures is a major source of financial help for many students in the state of Florida, so every recent high school graduate should apply, if eligible.

Children/Spouses of Deceased/Disabled Veterans Scholarship

The Scholarships for Children and Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans (CSDDV) provides an award to dependent children or un-remarried spouses of qualified Florida veterans.

Other state scholarships

The Florida Department of Education offers a number of scholarships for Florida residents. Please consult the Florida Department of Education website .

Outside scholarships

Of course, you can always apply for other scholarships, too!

Websites such as the following offer scholarships with all types of requirements:

If you are a dependent, one of your parents’ employers might offer a scholarship for which you can apply.

If you are employed, your own employer might offer money for college.

If you are searching online, make sure any source is legitimate BEFORE putting in any personal information.
