Grants are funds given to students based on financial need.  These funds do NOT have to be repaid, as long as the terms of the grant are met. Because many factors are considered in grant applications, students should apply even if they don’t believe they are eligible.
      Federal Pell Grants (Pell) 
    
    
        The Pell Grant program is a federally-sponsored aid program designed to provide assistance to those who show financial need to attend a postsecondary educational institution.  This grant is gift aid and does not have to be repaid. The award is based on the student’s financial resources and the school's actual cost of education according to a federally established formula. 
        
     
      Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants

      Federal Work Study 
    
    
        The Federal Work-Study program provides part-time employment for students with financial needs.  Work is limited to a maximum of 15 to 20 hours per week, paid at minimum wage.  Depending upon the availability of funds, students may also work during the summer term.
        
     
      Center for Career and Alumni Development 
    
    
        In addition to exploring scholarships and grants, consider contacting Career Source Chipola. They offer money for tuition for selected degree and certificate programs and can even help with transportation and testing expenses in some cases.  While walk-ins are welcome; appointments are recommended: 850-718-2408.
Veterans and State Employees may be eligible for funding. As with grants and scholarships, these funds do not have to be repaid.
        
     
      Veterans’ Benefits 
    
    
        As a veteran you may be entitled to certain benefits, and be eligible to participate in certain programs. For information, please contact the Office of Veterans Affairs in Building A or call the V.A. counselor at 850-718-2437.
        
     
      State Employee Fee Waivers 
    
    
        Permanent, full-time employees of the State of Florida are eligible to take up to six semester hours of courses free each semester, on a space-available basis.
