FAFSA: The First Step

The first step toward receiving Financial Aid is to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible for any type of need-based aid or loan. The online form requires financial information about you and your family. When you include Chipola’s FAFSA school code (001472), your FAFSA is sent directly to us.

The FAFSA application must be completed EACH YEAR!

Where do I find the FAFSA?

When should the FAFSA be completed?

The FAFSA becomes available on October 1st each year and should be completed and processed before March 15th.  If a student is unable to complete the FAFSA by the deadline, he or she may still apply for financial aid.  However, applications are processed in the order in which they are recieved.

Should I complete the FAFSA even if I already know I don’t qualify for a Pell Grant?

YES!  The FAFSA is NOT the end of the process; it is the beginning. Even many scholarships not based on need still require that you complete the FAFSA.  You might also be surprised by some of the programs for which you are qualified.
